Family Night in the Park

East Windsor sponsors free movie showing of 'Despicable Me"

Etra Lake Park will become a movie theater of sorts this Saturday, as East Windsor Township kicks off its Family Night at the park at 7 p.m., with the showing of the animated movie, “Despicable Me.”

The showing is part of a summer series that the township is running this season in the park, with help from sponsors First Choice Bank, TD Bank, Diversified Rack & Shelving, Shiseido America, Conair, Haldeman Ford, Coleman Auto Group Windsor and Corner Copia.

The movie will be shown at dusk. Before the movie, families and kids can enjoy a juggling show, inflatable rides, games and vendors. Movie goers can watch the flick on a large screen that the township will erect in the park. Families are encouraged to enjoy the night by bringing their own picnics, and recreational items like beach balls, Frisbees, etc.

“Despicable Me” is a lovable story about a self-proclaimed “World’s Great Villain” who adopts three cookie-selling orphan girls to foil his cookie-loving arch nemesis, but winds up creating a happy family instead.

Upcoming events at Etra Lake Park include a concert featuring the Manhattan Skyline on Sunday, Aug. 7, at 6 p.m. The concert will spotlight oldies from the 50's and 60's, including classics from the Temptations, the Platters, the Coasters, the Drifters, the Dubs, Johnny Maestro & the Brooklyn Bridge, the Earls and many others. The rain date will be August 22.
