5 Things You Need to Know About This Weekend

In Lawrence Township this weekend, you can enjoy performances by local students, bowl in the library, meet a Hollywood actor and honor some American heros before they ship out to Afghanistan with the National Guard.

Here are five local events happening this weekend that you need to know about:

Friday, March 4 & Saturday, March 5 – Kilroy was Here

Students at will perform the play “Kilroy was Here” in the school auditorium at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $5 each and will be available at the door. Tickets are free to military, police, firefighters and other service personnel and scouts in uniform.

Friday, March 4 & Saturday, March 5 – Peter Pan

Students at Notre Dame High School will perform "Peter Pan" at 7:30 p.m. on March 4, 5, 11 and 12, with a matinee performance on Saturday, March 12, at 2 p.m. For tickets, call (609) 882-7900 during school hours or buy them at the door. Tickets: $12 for adults and $8 for seniors, students and children.

Saturday, March 5 –

From 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Lawrence Township headquarters branch of the Mercer County Library at 2751 Brunswick Pike, seniors can enjoy playing Wii bowling, an interactive video game that provides for light exercise and fun conversations. New players are always welcome.

Saturday, March 5 –

Actor Peter Facinelli of the “Twilight” film series will appear at Quaker Bridge Mall from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday to sign autographs and participate in a blood drive. Cost: $25 for autographs, $40 for pictures with Facinelli. A portion of the proceeds benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand. The first 25 to donate blood will receive an autographed t-shirt and all donors will be entered into drawing to win a dinner with Facinelli.

Sunday, March 6 – Yellow Ribbon Ceremony

Three small groups of soldiers from the New Jersey Army National Guard who will soon be deployed to Afghanistan will be honored in a Yellow Ribbon Ceremony to be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the National Guard Armory on Eggerts Crossing Road. The soon-to-be-deployed soldiers are assigned to the Operational Mentor and Liaison Team; the Security Forces Platoon, 2nd Battalion, 113th Infantry; and the Counterinsurgency Training Center.
