Community Corner

WHY DIVRSITY IS IMPORTANT?

After pondering about "Diversity", this is what I came up with: "Diversity is important because it enhances society, organizations, educational institutions, government, and business with unique perspectives and new ideas.  Diversity is the difference in ideas, morals, cultures, lifestyles, and goals.  It helps us to identify the differences between us and to embrace them, which can improve relations within our own community and surrounding areas and increase the ability to cope with change, and expand creativity at all levels." -Teresita Bastides-Heron

Tomorrow Sunday, May 4th 2014 the Human Relations Committee will be embracing the cultures and ethnicities which equal Diversity in our community, at the Lawrence Township High School Commons from 12 noon to 4 pm. You will be able to enjoy food from around the world donated by our local restaurants.  The community will be able to sample some Italian, Chinese, Indian, Spanish, Filipino, etc. dishes.  The members of the Human Relations Committee thank the local restaurants for their valuable contribution to make Lawrence Township a better place to call home. Without their donations Diversity/Culture Day would not be possible.

Also our sincere thanks to all the participants for their contributions. The Hawaiian dancers from the Senior Center will be there. This is the 9th year that the Chinese community has been participating. This year Master Lee and his Tea Kwon Do Students will do a demonstration and the Indian community will have a variety of presentations.  Student from Rince O'Chroi Irish Dance School will perform The River Dance.
