"Under the Big Top" Garden State African Violet Club Show and Sale at MCCC May 3-4

Visitors are invited to step right up for the 63rd annual "Under The Big Top" Garden State African Violet Club Show. The show will be hosted by the Mercer County Community College (MCCC) Horticulture Program on Saturday, May 3, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, May 4, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road, in the Student Center Faculty/Staff Dining Room. The show is free and open to the public.

This year's circus-themed show will include hundreds of judged plants and flower arrangements created by local club enthusiasts and prominent growers. Arrangements will be inspired by clowns, jugglers and trapeze performers.

Experts will be on hand to answer questions about growing America's favorite houseplant. Workshops include “Hybridizing African Violets” on May 3 at 2 p.m. and “Growing Tips and Tricks” on May 4 at 1 p.m.

Just in time for Mother's Day, a variety of award-winning plants furnished by commercial growers and club members will be available for purchase. Visitors will also be eligible for door prizes.

This annual show is the club's only fundraiser. Each year, proceeds from the event fund a scholarship for a graduating MCCC Horticulture student.
