Educator Awarded Prestigious Title

EDUCATOR AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS TITLE

 

       Magda F. Reyes, Director of Education at Har Sinai Temple, Hopewell, N.J., has been granted the prestigious title of Reform Jewish Educator (R.J.E.) by the Reform Jewish Educator Title Granting Commission. The Commission is composed of representatives of the constituent bodies of Reform Judaism.

        Reyes recently earned her Master of Arts in Religious Education from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City.  She participated in the first cohort of the College’s Executive Master’s program, a highly competitive new hybrid online and on-site program for experienced education professionals.

         An East Windsor, N.J., resident, Reyes is the recipient of the Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ziegler Prize for the best essay on the subject “Study of American Synagogues Using Some of the Methods of Sociology and Religion.”  Reyes is also a Board member of the newly established Alumni Association of the Executive Master of Arts program, HUC-JIC.
