December Tax Training Sessions

Lawrenceville, NJ – The Mercer CASH (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) Earned Income Tax Credit Campaign is seeking volunteers during the upcoming tax season, to staff free tax preparation sites throughout Mercer County. By volunteering 4 to 8 hours per week, you will help low-income families and individuals file for refunds. Last year, the program helped over 1,423 Mercer County families and individuals with free tax preparation.

To be a volunteer tax preparer, you must participate in an upcoming training program: Friday December 6 from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm and Saturday December 7 from 9:30 am – 3:00 pm or Friday, December 13 – 9:30 am - 3:00 pm and Saturday, December 14, registration is required. Additional options may be available to individuals who are interested but cannot attend either training dates. The training is located at the office of United Way of Greater Mercer County, Crossroad Corporate Center, 3150 Brunswick Pike, Suite 230, Lawrenceville, NJ.

Volunteer tax preparers will receive practical knowledge in tax law, and TaxWise software, as well as hands-on practice completing tax returns. After passing an IRS Link & Learn test all volunteers are certified preparers. United Way of Greater Mercer County provides plenty of support and assistance, come out and find out how to make a difference!

Mercer CASH continues to be a recognized campaign for helping families and individuals prepare their taxes. Last tax year, each household received a 2012 TY EITC refund over $5,700 per household; a powerful tool that helps to increase the economic security and financial self-sufficiency of low-income families. Last year the total of all EITC filers brought over 47 million EITC dollars into Mercer County.
