Washington Crossing Audubon Society Offers Fall Beginning Birder Series for Adults

Are you interested in birds and birding but in need of pointers on where to go, what to look/listen for, and how to have a better experience in the field?

Following from the successful responses to our inaugural program held last Spring, Washington Crossing Audubon Society is pleased to announce a Fall educational program series targeted for the adult beginning birder. This series will provide an opportunity to visit nearby birding hotspots, get advice from experienced local birders, and develop your birding skills.

During this series of three outdoor workshops, you be introduced to the basics of birding by Washington Crossing Audubon Society experts. We will visit three of the top birding destinations in our region, focusing on learning the techniques necessary to start recognizing common species along with their habits and behaviors. The first workshop will be held at the Pole Farm (Lawrenceville); the second at Mercer County Park (West Windsor); and the third at the Featherbed Lane Bird Banding Station (Hopewell), where Washington Crossing Audubon board member Hannah Suthers has been operating a bird research project for more than thirty years. This program series is an opportunity to visit nearby birding hotspots, get advice from experienced local birders, enjoy up-close encounters with birds, and develop your birding skills.

Sept. 15 (Sun.) 8 – 11 AM Outdoor Workshop at the Pole Farm
Sept. 22 (Sun.)   8 – 11 AM   Outdoor Workshop at Mercer County Park
Sept. 29 (Sun.)   8 – 11 AM   Outdoor Workshop at Featherbed Lane Banding Station

This program costs $20 per person and requires registration. The program is for adults. For instructions on payment and registration, please submit an email to education.wcas@gmail.com with the number of participants. No prior birding experience necessary, and binoculars and field guides will be provided. Space is limited, and registration ends September 6th.
