Welcome to Lawrenceville Patch.
My name is Mike Ratcliffe, and I'm the editor of this new website which, we hope, will become your first destination for news and information about Lawrence Township. Lawrence is a wonderful place to live with a rich history and a lot to offer. I have lived in the township since 1991 and have been a journalist since 1994.
My team of reporters and photographers is just getting started but it's our goal to fill this site on a daily basis, sometimes even hourly, with stories about what matters most to Lawrence residents. Curious what the Township Council just voted on? Want to know what all those sirens were going by your house last night? Looking for photos from your son or daughter's most recent basketball game at the high school? Our goal is to make it so that you'll be able find all those things, and more, right here at Lawrenceville Patch.
In addition to bringing you the latest local news, this site will allow readers to interact with us by posting comments, photos, calendar events and announcements. You can sign up for daily and weekly news digests, and breaking news alerts delivered via e-mail and text message.
Patch sites are already live in communities across New Jersey. For a list of other sites, visit Patch.com.
Why are we Lawrenceville Patch when the municipality is called Lawrence Township? The honest answer is Lawrenceville Patch is just easier for folks to type in. No disrespect is meant for those Lawrence Township residents living outside the confines of the historic Village of Lawrenceville or south of Interstate 95 in neighborhoods like Slackwood or Eldridge Park. We're all part of the same town and all parts of town will receive equal coverage.
Here are a few key features of the new Lawrenceville Patch:
News coverage:
Lawrence Township is full of stories and our team of professional journalists and photographers will be bringing you the news as it happens, everyday. You won't have to wait a week to read up on what's important in town. Articles will range from coverage of government meetings and breaking news, to coverage of local sports to profiles of new businesses and more. You can sign up to receive breaking news e-mail alerts or a regular newsletter of stories from Patch.
Directory:
The Patch street team has been canvassing the town for months to bring you an accurate and interactive listing of Lawrence Township businesses and community resources. Search the Patch directory for phone numbers, store hours and even user ratings. And if you see that we're missing something, please let us know!
Events and Announcements:
The online event calendar is a free resource for community groups and individuals to post their events. Lawrenceville Patch employs a calendar editor who will work hard to make sure the events are accurate and up to date. In the site's Announcements section, you'll find a host of community-submitted stories about weddings, births and other personal achievements.
Opinion:
People in Lawrence Township have strong opinions and Patch wants to hear them. This site will feature columnists and letters to the editor about a range of issues. This is your chance to sound-off about what's on your mind.
Most important:
Lawrenceville Patch seeks to inform the town through our accurate, detailed reporting and community-focused online features.
