Volunteers Pull 483 Pounds of Trash from Colonial Lake

The cleanup effort on Saturday included volunteers from Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed, Congregation Kehilat Shalom and HomeFront

On Saturday (April 28) the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association teamed up with more then 60 volunteers from the Congregation Kehilat Shalom and HomeFront to clean up Colonial Lake in Lawrence Township.

Adults and children worked side-by-side to rid the shoreline of trash and debris that collects after storms. A total of 483 pounds of trash and recyclable items was picked up and properly disposed. Some notable finds included several wood pallets, a windshield wiper, a toilet bowl and a bowling ball!

The Stony Brook Millstone Watershed Association is a member-supported, non-profit organization that works to protect the fresh waters of Central New Jersey through conservation, advocacy, science and education.
