SUV Flips Over, But No Serious Injuries Reported
Two 17-year-old Lawrence High School students were traveling in the Ford Explorer when it flipped onto its roof after colliding with another vehicle at Gedney Road and Fieldboro Drive Thursday morning, authorities said.
A Lawrence High School student suffered only minor injuries when the sport utility vehicle in which he and a friend were traveling flipped onto its roof after it collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Gedney Road and Fieldboro Drive in Lawrence Township late this morning (Thursday, Sept. 13).
Authorities said the accident, reported shortly before 11:25 a.m., involved a Ford Explorer occupied by the two male 17-year-old LHS students, who were believed to be on their lunch break, and a Mercedes driven by a 54-year-old woman.
All three are township residents, authorities said.
Township police officers, the township’s daytime duty crew of career firefighters, and a mutual aid ambulance from the City of Trenton responded to the crash scene and arrived to find that the two teenagers had already crawled out of the overturned vehicle on their own.
One of the boys complained of minor pain and was immobilized, placed on a backboard and transported by ambulance to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton as a precaution, authorities said.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by Lawrence Township police and no other details were available at the time of this report.
Witnesses are asked to call police at (609) 896-1111.

There are always people speeding on this street and blowing that stop sign. Only a matter of time until something worse happens. Lawrence Police set up a speed sensor a few months ago to check the speed however in one of thier brighter moments they set it up at a speed hump so the +/-35 MPH they think people are doing is over the speed hump. I live on this road and its not odd to see people doing 55+ down it.

Wow... how fast was the SUV going to FLIP??? Glad nobody was hurt severly. I bet there's a teen driver now who will go a little slower in residential zones.

Bet Ford engineers adjusted their vehicle design to prevent <20 mph fender-bender accidents from resulting in a flipped 3 ton vehicle

Apparently the lady pulled out in front of them and they swerved to avoid a collision... the Explorer's high tipping point caused it to flip. Given the right jerk of the wheel and downward slope of the road... it's easy to flip an SUV. I must also add that too many residents on that road (Gainsboro) park on the road instead of their driveways... this turns a perfectly wide road into a very narrow and potentially dangerous one (with poor visibility).
