Earl S. Cranstoun, 92, passed peacefully on Monday, Feb. 18, at St. Joseph's Nursing Center.

Born on Sept. 16, 1920, in Lawrence Township, he was the fourth child, out of seven, born to William Cranstoun and Mary Poinsett Cranstoun.

Early in his life, he worked hard along side of his father and brothers at their dairy farm on Princeton Pike.

In June of 1945, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Leigh of Princeton, and had one daughter, Virginia. Earl continued to work as a farmer and later worked for the Princeton University as a driver.

Earl and his family would spend many summer days at their family bungalow in Toms River where he enjoyed boating and swimming. His favorite pastimes were playing golf with his brothers and rooting for the Mets and Jets.

Well after there was a television in every home, he still preferred listening to baseball games on the radio rather than watching them. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and going out dancing every weekend.

Earl was very involved in the community as he was a long time member of The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville where he served as a deacon; a member of the Lawrenceville Grange where he served as master; and a member of the American Business Club (AMBUCS).

Earl was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife of 63 years, Bette, and his brothers, Jack Cranstoun, Raymond Cranstoun, Alvin Cranstoun and Milton Cranstoun.

He is survived by his daughter, Virginia Stoops and her husband, James Stoops; his granddaughters, Rebecca Sisk with her husband Matthew Sisk, and Jennifer Stoops; his great-grandsons, Fletcher J. Sisk and Travis M. Sisk; his sister, Dorothy (Cranstoun) Skellinger; his brother, Stanley Cranstoun with his wife Sondra (Loeb) Cranstoun; his sister-in-laws, Eleanor Harrelson, Dorothy Moore, and Delores Cranstoun; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 21,at 10 a.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd., Lawrence Township. Rev. Jeffrey Vamos, pastor of The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, will officiate. Burial will be in The Lawrenceville Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
