Ninth Annual Big Red Race to Benefit Local Children
Register now to take part in the race on May 6 on The Lawrenceville School's campus.
Editor's Note: The following is a news release issued by The Lawrenceville School.
Register today for the ninth annual Lawrenceville School Big Red Race, happening on Sunday, May 6 on the school's campus (2500 Main St.).
The Race benefits the Lawrenceville School Camp (a residential summer camp for underprivileged youth that has been in operation for more than a century) and local non-profits fighting hunger.
The starting gun for the adult five-kilometer course will fire at 10:15 a.m., rain or shine. Races, ranging from 25 meters to a half mile, will be available for kids (ages 3-11) starting at 9:00 a.m.
Participants are encouraged to pre-register by April 30 to receive a 2012 Big Red Race t-shirt. There is a $20 non-refundable entry fee for adults ($25 on Race day) and $10 for high school students and younger ($15 on Race day).
All racers and spectators are encouraged to bring cans of non-perishable food for the School's Big Red Race Food Drive, which will be given to community agencies fighting hunger in the Lawrence Township area.
A food donation will also serve in lieu of a $5 entry fee for runners under age 12, each of whom will receive a finisher's medal and a t-shirt.
Forget to bring your canned goods on Race Day? No worry - food bags will be available for donation purchase. Tickets for the Big Red Raffle will also be on sale.
Registration forms for both the adult and children's races are available on the Lawrenceville School website www.lawrenceville.org.
