It saddens me that such a homicide should be considered "top state news". It should be reported, yes, but reserve "top" stories to those that are relevant and helpful, that we can learn from, or take pleasure in, that are encouraging, perhaps, to others. How about reporting an unusual act of kindness, or highlight a "charity of the week"?
