Lawrence Residents Honored by Mercer Freeholders

Five Lawrence Township residents, three of whom are township public school students, were honored for their various contributions to the community during the Mercer County Freeholders' meeting on Dec. 8, 2011.

On Thursday, Dec. 8, during a meeting held in the council chambers of the , the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored five Lawrence Township residents for their exceptional contributions to the community.

Freeholder Board Chair (and former Lawrence Township mayor) Pasquale “Pat” Colavita Jr. presented the honors to the recipients.

Lawrence Intermediate School students Kayla Jackson and Ryan Stevens was recognized for their efforts to collect winter coats for the needy through the .

William Agress was recognized for his contributions to under Col. Edward Hand’s command during the Revolutionary War. Agress has played the role of Col. Hand since 1981 and will do so again during the next reenactment to take place next Monday, Jan. 2.
