LHS Lower School Principal Tenders Resignation

David Roman, principal of Grades 9 and 10 at Lawrence High School, will leave the township school district as of Dec. 31. The current assistant principal of the LHS Lower School, David Milinowicz, is expected to take over as acting principal.

David Roman, principal of the Lower School (Grades 9 and 10) of Lawrence High School, is resigning from his position, effective Dec. 31, according to the agenda for Monday’s (Dec. 12) Lawrence Township Board of Education.

The agenda, posted to the school district website late this afternoon, states that Roman is resigning for “personal reasons.”

While it has not yet been confirmed officially, word among Lawrence Township school district staff is that Roman will be taking a new job as assistant superintendent of a school district in Monmouth County.

Roman had been the principal in charge of all four grades at Lawrence High School but was moved to principal of Grades 9 and 10 at the start of the current school year when , and Jonathan Dauber (previously principal at Lawrence Intermediate School) was named as principal for Grades 11 and 12.  

The current assistant principal of the LHS Lower School, David Milinowicz, will serve as acting principal from Dec. 13 through June 30, according to the meeting agenda. His salary will remain as previously approved for the 2011-2012 school year.

Also listed on the agenda for the board to act on Monday night is the termination of the employment of Joseph Miller, in November on criminal charges alleging he molested a 12-year-old boy over the summer.

Following Miller’s arrest, Lawrence Township Public Schools Superintendent Crystal Lovell said Miller had been suspended with pay and ordered to have no access to schools, pending the outcome of the criminal charges against him.

According to the agenda for Monday’s meeting, Miller will receive payment of his salary through the end of December.
