Councilman Greg Puliti Submits Letter of Resignation

Longtime councilman to step down from Lawrence Township Council prior to start of the new year, according to a report published by the Lawrence Ledger.

Councilman Greg Puliti yesterday (Wednesday, Dec. 26) submitted to the township clerk's office a letter of resignation explaining that, due to "professional obligations," he will resign from township council as of midnight on Dec. 31, 2012, according to a report published by The Lawrence Ledger.

Puliti has been on council almost continuously since 1996, and served as mayor in 1998, 2000, 2003, 2007 and 2011.

What a joke this is Puliti. You are resigning because you can't take the heat. When things were good way back when, you pranced around that damn town like you owned it. I remember when you were a juniper at Slackwood fire company. You were always scared if fire but only joined because you need friends. Now the heats on you Puliti, you can't take it anymore? You are a disgrace. Look at the bright side young lad, you can come down south with the rest of us retirees. But don't think anyone wants to hear that you were a mayor down here, they will throw you to the alligators.

Good riddance- one down, four more to go! The Lawrence Township Municipal spending spree may finally be coming to an end now that the spending king is running away like the coward he is. Your last official act was to pass a new fee for a service no one wants because your reckless spending over the years has left us in a now constant budget crisis and you refused to make cuts instead. Let's keep charging people more and keep longevity pay for the past several years despite the fact that we're in a recession. How does that make any sense? You have never served all the residents, just yourself and your special interests. I hope your other "professional obligations" (what a joke) don't have the same result you've left the rest of us to deal with for many more years to come. Thanks for all the memories...NOT.

When the going gets tough Puliti gets going. What a weaselly coward. Thanks for the years of arrogance and thanks for having a big hand in ruining the township on many levels. Thanks for turning your back on the citizens you have so selfishly "served" and for walking away when the mess you created got to big. That is not leadership that is cowardly.

na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey...good bye!
What a low life disgrace this guy is. Things aren't so good there at 2207 Lawrence Road, so what do the leaders do? Abandon ship! He would have lost if he ran for another term anyway.

A decent man that devoted his spare time to serving the community. It wasn't his fault that the nation was hit with a terrible recession. I bid him adieu and best of luck.

That makes a lot of sense. It wasn't his fault? But when things are good they sure do take credit don't they?
So by this logic, no politicians are at fault for the financial mess that this country is in, just blame it all on the recession?

Wasn't his fault. But it sure let everyone see he was wearing no bathing suit when the went out. It really is the best thing about this DEPRESSION. All the frauds and takers have been exposed. he still left his $55 tax before he ran away like a sissy. Should be known a the politi tax because he is a bulk of garbage.

This is great news. Puliti is all about taking care of his friends - the builders of condos and high density housing that destroyed our property values, and giving ridiculous salary and benefit packages to township employees that has caused havoc with our property taxes. I am glad he is leaving before he does more damage.

how does his resignation affect the Brunswick Pike Redevelopment plan? Last I heard was final design plans would be completed in January 2013 and then sent for bid by December 2013. I've been waiting forever for this and remember Puliti talking about this about 6 years ago. I hope I'm alive to enjoy this redevelopment plan.

One councilman resigning,,too hot to stay..One down and how many more embedded council members to go? The entire council members and Mr K should all be ashamed of showing their faces in public..A fee for bulk trash, that 98% of the people will never use is outrageous!!! Where will this money go? Cut back on your salaries, cut back on your raises...STOP THE GREED!

Councilman Greg Puliti's lasting legacy:
31% tax increase in 4 years (2008-2012) while his constituents languished in recession
59% tax increase in 8 years (2004-2012)
Attempted extortion in order to ram through a 17% tax increase in 2012
Passing the 4% annual GARBAGE TAX for all residents regardless of use
Passing the 13% annual RECREATION TAX for working families

And the final act of shame: Resigning in disgrace, immediately after voting for the GARBAGE TAX, knowing he was a "lame duck" and voting for it anyway.

Shenanigans to the last day.

We must send 2 NEW People to Council in November. Maybe some sort of checks and balances will restore our faith in local government.

Puliti - certainly the worst councilman in Lawrence history!!! Skies are a bit brighter over Lawrence after his resignation.
