Chiropractor Accused of Molesting Patients

Peter V. Plumb, whose Plumb Chiropractic office is in the 1200 block of Lawrence Road (Route 206) in Lawrence Township, was arrested Monday and charged with sexual assault and two counts of criminal sexual contact, authorities announced.

A chiropractor was arrested Monday morning (Dec. 17) on charges alleging he molested two female patients at his Plumb Chiropractic office in the 1200 block of Lawrence Road (Route 206), Lawrence Township police and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

The suspect, Peter V. Plumb, 55, of the 100 block of Riverview Avenue, Yardley, Pa., was charged with sexual assault and two counts of criminal sexual contact, authorities said.

Township police made the arrest at 11:15 a.m., authorities said, noting that bail was set at $100,000 for the sexual assault charge and $2,500 for each count of criminal sexual contact.

Authorities said the investigation, which is ongoing, was prompted by complaints from two separate patients.

“The first incident occurred earlier this year when a 20-year-old female patient sought chiropractic treatment. She was treated by Dr. Peter Plumb. During her treatment Dr. Plumb put his hand down her pants and placed his hand on her pubic area in an effort to align her hips,” township police spokesman Lt. Mark Ubry said in a news release. “The patient became uncomfortable with this and stopped going to Dr. Plumb. The victim reported the incident to police.

“The second incident occurred in November and December of this year. In those incidents, a 39-year-old female patient sought treatment from Plumb Chiropractic. She was treated by Dr. Plumb,” Ubry continued in the release. “During her treatments Dr. Plumb touched her breasts through her clothing and also placed his hand down her pants to treat her groin area. During one treatment session Dr. Plumb informed the victim that he needed to work from the inside outwards and proceeded to remove the victim’s pants. Dr. Plumb then penetrated the victim with his fingers. The victim reported this to police.”

Lawrence Township Police Detectives Robert Potter and Todd Caruso and Mercer County Prosecutors Office Detective Marlon Webb are leading the investigation.

“This case remains an active and ongoing investigation and additional victims or anyone with information is asked to call Lawrence Township Police Department at (609) 896-1111 or by email at Investigations@Lawrencetwp.com,” Ubry said.

My wife and I were each former patients of Dr. Plumb's and I am surprised and saddened to hear this. While nothing excuses the alleged behaviors, I cannot help but wonder if the serious brain disease he suffered from several years ago (I don't remember the specifics) may have something to do with this. Our experience with him was entirely positive and we only stopped going because the treatments worked.

I knew the 'doctor' during the Dance Improv in Princeton back in the 1990s. He would tell the rudest and crudest sexully explist jokes afterware at winburies. He was creepy and I had stopped going to after dance dinner with the group. It is odd that a 'touch therapist' would say things that could make people avoid his practice. Hopfully he will get help with brain problem. I thought Leukemia was a blood thing, but I am not doctor. When I work a woman 'from the inside outward' she gets dinner danceing and a movie first.

Maybe the 'brain disease' was pathological criminal psychosis of sexually deveation type.

This man's a perv and not only deserves to be locked behind bars so that other pervs can return the "favor" to him, but he needs his license revoked, permanantly. The public deserves to have medical professionals who can be trusted to treat their patients with respect, dignity, and professionalism.

What a scum to take advantage of his trust as a medical professional. I'm sure there were other girls that this sicko made inappropriate moves on. Was it worth it Mr. Plumb? A small town business owner and professional embarrassed. I hope this dirt ball pays for his behavior. Hopefully someone treats him from the inside in jail. Scum

Amazing that you people have already tried the man. Remember he is innocent until proven guilty. He has served as a Chiropractor for 28 years and this is the first time I have heard anything negative about him. My wife has been using him for about 5 years and the results have been fantastic. I don't know how this will all shake out, but if I was a betting man I would bet that he will be completely exonerated.

Looking back, how do feel about your wife having all those sessions with him?

He inappropriately touched me (sneakily on the sides of my breasts after saying he needed to raise my shirt to treat my back, and in the groin area) several times as well, before his health scare, that is why I stopped going to him. He's let down his patients, his integrity and family. He has serious problems and I can judge that.

He plead guilty and is on life time parole, is a sex offerer and must register as so, lost his license, and needs mental evalution. I guess he did it?

"the first time I have heard anything negative about him"
the same faulty logic that brings
" how can I have cancer now, I never had it before"
"I can't be pregnant, I was 'Legitimately R4ped' "

I think Dr. Plumb is a wonderful man. Don't judge him, it is not our job to do so.

He left his wife for an affair with a patient of his. So that's the 3rd known patient he has crossed the line with. He is a creep and a fraud and will lose his license to grope soon.

Criminals have a pattern to their behavior (modus operandi). They start out committing smaller crimes and if they don’t get caught they escalate into more serious offenses. It seems that Dr. Plumb’s behavior escalated. All these women can’t be wrong. I’m sure if the authorities cross reference former female clients that only had one treatment they might see this pattern.

I'm sorry for what it happen to you, must not be easy after so many years. I’m sure it has not been easy to deal with the emotional damage but be sure that you are not alone. There are so many women coming forth to the police with molested reports so far back since Plum open his practice. That proves how difficult it is for a victim to go to the police. I can only think of all those parents that put their trust on a health care provider and send their kids for regular visits. I'm not saying that all health care personal will conduct like Plum. I'm thinking on the trust and how hard it is for an adult to report these cases, imagine how many kids around the world are being molested because we trust the professionalism and ethic of a person.

We can doubt one person, but you cannot dismiss 8 or 9 brave person’s declarations in a period of 20 years.
Thanks for the apology but is not need since I'm sure you deal with this the best way you could at the moment and for all this years.

When the truth is revealed, many people will recoil in disbelief, often to the point of turning on the victims. When a sexual predator is charismatic, talented in his field, and exceedingly skilled at masquerading his crime as medical therapy, it takes some serious courage to go to the police and risk community backlash.

My heart goes out to all of the women who have been sexually assaulted by men in positions of authority. So often when the women gather the courage to come forward they are dismissed by the legal system. A very similar thing happened to me with a massage therapist. I went directly to the police. The police dropped the case after a month when they could find no evidence other than my testimony. In my case, there was no public announcement asking for other victims to come forward. It was forgotten and I am certain that sexual predator has gone on to molest other women.

I am glad that in this situation the police are finally listening. It is a shame that the woman from 20 years ago had to wait so long to see justice. I hope that she goes back to the police to report it again. If the police had a better way to handle these allegations, perhaps there would not be 2 decades of women's rights being violated.

I only found out about this yesterday. I was a patient of Dr Plumb's for several years during the late 80s. Early 90's . He behaved in these exact same manners with me as other women have described. I was a kid when this happened and he was a trusted adult/friend of my parents so I never spoke up out of fear or not trusting my own instincts about how wrong he was. I was only 12 when I started going to him, he was constantly making comments about my body, and "accidentally" gripe me, he would lean in and bump his nose to mine and tell me that I was adorable, he would also adjust from the inside of my pants. He's a creep and I thought I'd never have to see his face or hear his name again until a friend emailed me this article. I hope he is punished to the fullest extent possible and I am truly sorry for those that came after me that I didn't speak up back then. Maybe he could have been stopped years ago
