Bicycle vs. Mail Truck Collision Under Investigation
The accident, which occurred Tuesday morning on Texas Avenue, sent the bicyclist to a local hospital, but her injuries were not life threatening, Lawrence Township police said.
A bicyclist was injured when her bike collided with a U.S. Postal Service vehicle on Texas Avenue in Lawrence Township Tuesday morning (Feb. 12).
Police said the accident, which occurred about 10:15 a.m., remains under investigation by Officer Robert Loveless.
But preliminary information gathered thus far indicates the bicyclist was heading west on Texas Avenue when her bike struck the side of the mail truck, which was in the process of entering Texas Avenue from the jughandle exit from southbound Brunswick Pike (Business Route 1), according to police.
Police identified the bicyclist as Grazyna Szczepanik, 53, of Review Avenue, Lawrence Township. Her injuries were not life threatening and she was transported by Lawrence Township ambulance to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton for treatment, police said.
The mail truck’s driver – identified as Ming Wang, 30, of Fountayne Lane, Lawrence Township – was not hurt, police said.
Witnesses told police that Szczepanik was carrying two bags of groceries with her as she peddled and those may have interferred with her ability to stop the bike.
